دستیابی به بهترین عملکرد و رفتار اجسام پرنده کنترل پذیر، هدف اصلی مهندسان و طراحان سیستمهایکنترل پرواز میباشد. بهینهسازی مسیر یک جسمپرنده میتواند سبب بهبود عملکرد، کاهش هزینه، افزایش قابلیت و نتایج مطلوب دیگر گردد. بهینهسازی مسیر دانشی است که در آن راههای دستیابی به فرآیندهای دینامیکی بهینه ارائه میگردد. یکی از روشهای یافتن تغییرات بهینه متغیرهای حالت، استفاده از کنترل بهینه است. از آنجائیکه پروازهای با بُرد و مداومت طولانی نیازمند برخی شکلهای مدیریت سوخت میباشند، تحقیقات گستردهای در حوزهی کمینهسازی مصرف سوخت در حال انجام میباشد. در این مقاله حداقل مصرف سوخت برای یک هواپیمای بدون سرنشین در مرحله گشتزنی با مانور دایروی در یک منطقه از پیش تعیین شده ارائه گردید. معادلات حرکت پهپاد بر اساس مدل جرم نقطهای توسعه یافته است. شرایط بهینگی از اصل حداقلیابی پانتریاگن با استفاده از تابع همیلتونین به دست آمده است. مصرف سوخت، به-عنوان معیار بهینه انتخاب و روش عددی مورد استفاده تکنیک پرتاب چند نقطه ای بوده است. به طور طبیعی انتظار میرود که انرژی باد بر مسیر پرواز تأثیرگذار باشد، به همین دلیل شبیهسازیهای عددی با در نظر گرفتن اثر سرعت و جهت باد بر مانور گردش بهینه انجام شده است. نتایج این تحقیق نشان میدهد که برای داشتن حداقل مصرف سوخت در پرواز گشتزنی در مسیر دایروی، لازم است که پهپاد پرواز متناوب نزولی و صعودی داشته باشد.
